Divemaster Course
Stepping into the role of an SDI Divemaster is more than earning a professional-level certification — it’s choosing to become a leader, a mentor, and an ambassador for the underwater world. As an SDI Divemaster, you don’t just guide divers; you inspire confidence, cultivate skill, and help shape the next generation of safe, passionate adventurers. It’s a path built on dedication, discipline, and a genuine love for diving, and reaching this level marks the moment you transition from being part of the dive community to helping lead it.
Requirements:

Minimum age 18.

Certified SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent; advanced certification must include verifiable experience in deep, navigation, night, and limited visibility specialties.

Certified SDI Rescue Diver or equivalent.

Provide proof of current First Response Adult and Child Emergency Care Provider and Oxygen Administration Provider (where local law permits) certification or equivalent.

Provide proof of at least 40 logged dives to begin course (Candidates must have a logged total of 60 dives OR 50 logged dives and an accumulated underwater time of 25 hours in order to graduate).

Note: First Response courses may be combined with the SDI Divemaster course by qualified instructors.

Once certified, you’ll be recognized as a dive professional capable of supporting instructors and leading divers around the world. As a Divemaster, you can:

Independently supervise diving activities

Assist instructors during SDI courses

Conduct programs such as Discover Local Diving and Scuba Review

Guide Open Water students during non‑critical portions of their training

Lead, mentor, and inspire divers in your local community or anywhere your diving career takes you
